I watch her
She stares deep
into nothing, yet
feelings wash over
her masked face
ever so randomly
A glimpse into
her mind, yet
fear warns the
dangers of getting
entwined
Surface dead
but wounds
carved deep
Draws you closer
eyes that plead
This dark trance
curtain of falsity
hides her turmoil
almost perfectly
I’m tempted to
know, but to do
so I must enter
her world and
bare myself to
the emptiness
and darkness
of her shadows
that feast on her
naked loneliness
I watch her
We two are one
torn by loss-
denial and
acceptance
split across
I watch me
from afar
unable to
endure the
truths of a
future now
turned past
I close my eyes,
block her out
pause her image
erase the doubt
her acceptance
raw and savage
her deathly eyes
parades life’s
absence.
Perhaps,
another day,
presently I
breathe denial
This reality
I reject its trial
My emotions cease
just a little more
time please
