Hi everyone, it’s Robbie Cheadle here with you today with my August post in the Nature Photography section on LatinosUSA – English Edition. This month I am featuring photographs of Rivers.

28 August – Lighthouses

4 September – Creatures that fly

11 September – The creation process (the creation of art, music, etc.)

18 September – Autumn colours

European and African Rivers by Robbie Cheadle

I thought it would be fun to present three rivers from my travels in Europe and three from my travels in South Africa.

Rivers in Europe:

  • River Avon running through the town of Bath, United Kingdom
  • River in Bruges, Belgium featuring a row of houses on the right and a row of summer trees on the left.
  • Thames River in London with skyrise buildings in the background and a boat on the water

Rivers in South Africa:

  • Sand River in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve in South Africa
  • Buffalo River at Fugitive's Drift in Kwa-Zulu Natal in South Africa
  • White Mfolozi River near Ulundi in Kwa-Zulu Natal in South Africa

Derrick Knight

Derrick Knight is a wonderful photographer and shares delightful book reviews and garden and home posts on his blog. Where the photographs are extracted from a blog post, I’ve included the link to the post beneath the photograph/s.

I’ve included the links to Derrick’s wonderful related posts below the photograph galleries.

From: https://derrickjknight.com/2025/11/15/silent-thudding/ and https://derrickjknight.com/2024/03/02/a-bridge-for-tootlepedal/

The next two photographs are from two of a series of posts by Derrick depicting a 200+ mile walk alongside his son, Sam, in his ocean rowing boat delivered at Henley on Thames and rowed along rivers and canals to home in Newark on Trent in 2002. He was to go on and win a solo row from the Canaries to Barbados in 2004. These two photographs show the interest in manoeuvring the boat and its oars through the locks.

Photographs of the St Mary’s River by Andrew McDowell

Andrew contributed poetry and art to Poetry Treasures 4: In Touch with Nature a poetry anthology compiled and edited by Kaye Lynne Booth and myself. Andrew has also contributed short stories and poems to several other anthologies and has two eco-fantasy novels with a third in progress. You can learn more about Andrew’s work here: https://andrewmcdowellauthor.com/publications/

Andrew has an interesting blog where he shares information about his writing journey and writing tips. You can find Andrew’s blog here: https://andrewmcdowellauthor.com/blog/.

What Andrew says about these photographs: «When I went to St. Mary’s College of Maryland, I often took strolls to look out on the St. Mary’s River. It was so relaxing and peaceful. I took dozens of photographs of the river over my four years there, and these are just a select few.»
