«The Bird That Sang Of Love» by Bianca Alina

I turned my heart into a stone, hurling it at every bird that sang of love.

I silenced them all—save for the one trapped inside my chest.

Nestled so close to my soul, yet utterly unreachable, that bird became my beautiful destruction. With every note she sang, she violently fractured my ribs, punctured my lungs, and left me gasping for air.

Driven mad by the agony, I tore my chest wide open, desperate to set her free.

She refused to leave. She just sang and sang and sang, though her melody had now changed.
The song of love faded; in its place echoed a requiem for a broken woman, condemned to drag herself through the motions of an empty existence for the sake of those who never truly cared.
