Selflessness Amid Mountains and Rivers
A Buddhist temple perches on mountains, framed like a painted scroll,
Half hidden in wooded valleys, half soaring into azure heights.
A secluded nook peeks out amid a thousand peaks.
Majestic ridges form an expansive courtyard of ten thousand hills.
From shallow perception to profound integration with all creation,
From subtle glimpses unfolds the grand manifestation of Zen.
Brush and ink fully portray reverence for innate nature.
Buddhist serenity abides forever with tranquil mountains and streams.

Spiritual Homecoming Amid Mountains and Rivers
Cloud-wreathed roots cradle the temple, locked in misty blue hues.
A pine-wind path drifts past a small pavilion.
Moss crevices in the stone hold ancient timeless charm.
Rain drips from upturned eaves into ethereal void.
Long have I roamed with wild cranes, casting aside worldly scheming,
My heart cleansed of earthly dreams by cold mountain springs.
Ask not where the journey home awaits.
The bright moon over the whole mountain accompanies my solitary walk.

Unfettered Freedom Amid Mountains and Rivers
I seek no old footsteps within the empty hills,
Wander or retreat, no need to ask east or west.
Clouds serve as brooms to sweep mossy stone steps.
Bamboo windows stay open wide, the moon acts as my bell.
Brewed tea gains extra flavor with the pine breeze.
Faded sutras are draped in layers of falling floral shadows.
My being has always dwelt amid mist and mountain glow.
No need to hold up a flower to attain full enlightenment.

Seeing the Buddha by Observing One’s Mind
Our original nature is inherently pure, complete with all virtues.
Why search for true Zen outside oneself?
Walk the mortal world to illuminate your genuine nature.
Transcend material appearances to perceive emptiness and primal karmic ties.
Where you stand is truth. Respond naturally to all circumstances.
A single phrase over tea severs mortal entanglements.
Erase all discriminations—form contains emptiness.
A lucid peaceful heart is itself the Buddha’s pure land.
