SPANISH HARLEM

The number 6 line
carves righteously through
116th and Lexington Avenue:
El Barrio.
Red beans,
Medalla Light.
Tito Puente on a distorted speaker.
Dominoes.
Cardboard shoes
dancing on the cracks
from where no water rises.
Tenements,
Sirens,
The only melody freely proffered
By the city.
Gun versus gun.
Police sort them out
according to their accent.
Red, white and blue
in shades and different patterns.
Smoke spears through
The shadows of the tunnels.
The train pulls in
The weight of dreams
Spills out.

Hehehe… I reckon we all are Janet. Cheers and all the best. And would you believe it, yesterday it reached 89 F. with bright sunny skies. And today we awoke to 55 F. and all morning it has been the same: cool, windy and rainy. And according to the weather APP on the mobile, tomorrow will go back up to the 80’s F. This weather is absolutely crazy!

Sounds almost identical to our weather this past week! I’m beginning to wonder if 2026 is going to be «a year without a summer» like 1816! I’ve never had to wear warm clothes in June before! Let’s hope we all have warm weather next week without any gyrations bouncing back and forth from hot to cold. Enjoy your Sunday.

Well, it is not surprising, weather all over is crazy, but Valencia and North Carolina are close to the same latitude. We are on the same latitude as Richmond, VA, but our winters are usually not as cold because we are on the Mediterranean and that allows our climate to be more humid and more moderate. But today was again a hot day (26 degrees C.) yet by now (evening) it has cooled off remarkably and the humidity has evaporated (I don’t know it that is the right term). Our Junes are not that hot, usually, July usually is, but I do not recall wearing a light jacket in June. All the best to you Janet and a Happy Sunday to you too.
