Pausing moments by Susana Cabaço

As soon as the tide stops flooding and immediately before it starts ebbing, there’s a short period when there are no currents and the setting becomes still. You can perceive it well in more sheltered locations like coastal lagoons, where for 20-30 minutes there is a calm window of slack water. In these moments, the plants can stand straight on their own grace, and the animals own their mobility fully. Their nature is then more authentic.

Sometimes, when the dragging forces of the world cease, even if for a little while, you too can feel your fuller beingness. You can stand your ground in greater alignment with your soul and experience a wholer version of you and a vaster sense of peace. These calm instances let you know of your true essence and nature. Enable you to bounce back from what’s been bothering you and reinforce your humanness.

Pausing moments are undoubtedly important, for they give you a chance of knowing and owning yourself for who you truly are, not as a response to something external. The outer pushes may mold and even help refine you in some way—Nature’s elements also show you that—but staying with the tender grace of your innateness is another kind of light and even delight. In your innate beingness, you can keep up with what’s often forgotten in the reaction to outer forces. That you are a soft being made of divine strength. And that certainly empowers your path ahead, equipping you for the inevitable tidal currents of the world that will eventually start to pull you one way or another, much like the relentless ocean tides.

In the end, it’s all about making the best of the calm and the currents, for both can add to your state and journey, helping you restore and expand if embraced sensibly. Are you?
