Melts of the Evening by Gopal Lahiri

Published by

on

The city is facing you with wrinkles and

dark patches, drawing topographies

of unexcavated regions.

.

You dream about the opera house open

wide to an endless symphony,

the pole star flowers a smile on your eyes.

.

The waft caresses with no blinking

thoughts, you run around and become

one with green paddocks and meadows.

.

Unfastening the slivers, serving you

the melts of the evening, sounds

of the world, most often you can’t hear.

.

You know you are alone, bearing creases

of many years, even when held

in someone’s arms.
