Giddy by Nigel Byng

I felt the earth spin, once
Nothing to do with love,
Just tilting inertia.
The one epiphany
slanting disposition
unhinged from mooring firm.
Mind illuminated.
Awe… serendipity.
Parched lips, sweat-dappled brow
Resurgent consciousness.
Poundage wise, mind bending.
Grab hold, steady the reins man!
It lasts but a second.
Hesitate, and it’s lost.
Destiny in orbit
Encounters sun and moon
The affairs of mortals
Unclaimed… regrettable,
Brief as a shooting star
Or a comet’s long walk.
Visible, out of reach,
And one feels the earth spin.
