When this journey ends, you will see me off no more,
the parting scene is too hard to picture in mind,
you faintly yearn for that day, tinged with unrest,
unpacking and tying bundles time and again.
You dwell in two worlds at once:
one has learned to forget,
the other waits in silent advance,
your brass ornaments are polished bright once more.
You grow strange yet stirred inside,
standing beneath the starry sky, looking small and slight,
almost like an innocent young maiden in her prime.
You no longer speak of how I looked in childhood days,
your gaze glides fleetingly over all things around,
as if staring at belongings left behind by a stranger unbound.
Mother, you love me no longer now,
old age holds things far weightier than I can allow,
at last I know it is time for me to grow up fully endowed.
