To the Best of My Humble Recollection by Scott Outlar

Published by

I’ve taken a Suburban

straight on

driver’s side

in a smart car

spun around

thrice

I think

hopped out from wreckage

like a cartoon character

twirling dramatically

with arms wide open

in the middle

of the intersection

as if to pantomime

to anyone on the scene

bearing witness

that I was begging the question:

what the fuck just happened?

a lot like life itself

knowing the difference

between a hurt

and broken heart

is similar to the disparity

of clear consciousness

and concussed axons

understanding the equation

could save you a lifetime

of avoidable suffering
