The blue in the sky when it gets dark enter
my ribcages, dust the graphics of names
and then bury them deep in the loose soil.
All the glowing letters on the sign board
fold into a dark palate, holding the air between
time zones, hear the moan of the raging river.
I walk around, touch the golden arrow flower
white as can be with yellow spot inside
until the entire garden is a white craving.
Not the usual, I am in a field of swaying grass
God’s voice- let yourself sink deep, all around
no sound, except the raindrops on the geranium.
Closing my eyes tighter, I drive the voice away
and clean the gossamers from my forlorn shadow.
