All sorts of orange by Robbie Cheadle

We enjoyed these beautiful arum lilies in January this year. I didn’t plant orange lilies so they must have been a result of the red and yellow lilies we planted.

  • Two orange arum lilies with streaks of yellow.
  • A close up of a single orange arum lily
  • Two orange and yellow streaked arum lilies from a greater distance

A gorgeous orange rose in my garden.

My acrylic painting of a leopard in a tree. This painting placed in the Wild Heart Gallery Wild Animals exhibition in January 2026.

I love how I’m always learning something from these posts. Over here, arum lilies are always white so I assumed they couldn’t be anything else. Seeing the gorgeous orange ones in your pic reminded me of the Offspring’s canna lillies and how pink and yellow ended up with an orange. Nature is truly amazing.

Same here, Robbie. I watched a David Attenborough doco about Tasmania – Australia’s southern-most state – and I was astounded by what I did not know. And that’s despite having spent a bit of time in Tassie, travelling around the coastline.

I’m not a Tasmanian so I’m giving myself a bit of leeway, but I’m still kind of shocked by how little I do know about my own country!
