«The Clock» by Miriam Costa
The soul with its clock = tick-tock and other seconds I steal to remain out of sync.
Waking up = I have wandered through dreams, and in the morning rhythm, I cast off my weariness—that time which passes and leaves everything hushed.
Outside myself = much is said, yet a profound silence dwells within; feelings mingle in disarray, shaping the art I create as I follow the sun’s hand.
This brings me calm—something the clock hand cannot replicate. So, I sigh, reflecting on what endures and what amounts to nothing.
The hand marks the departure.
It is I who chart my own path.
Not every step I take is a moment of fulfillment, yet the years embrace us, reminding us that time has not forgotten.
If time exists merely to outmaneuver the world, I feel afraid and use red paint to write upon a mirror.
If peace belongs to the world—which it rarely does—then the hours have never known it.
Tick-tock and its trajectories; someone turns the clock hands into a memory.
The scent of wildflowers on the table is comforting and pleasant, separating the counting of time from the rest of the world.
