Photography – People cooking

Hi everyone, it’s Robbie Cheadle here with you today with my April post in the People Photography section on LatinosUSA – English Edition. This month I am featuring photographs of people cooking.

People cooking by Robbie Cheadle

When I visited Tokyo in Dec 2024, one of the places I visited was the Tsukiji Nippon Fish Port Market. We went on a food tour of the fish market and its was very interesting. We tried a variety of different foods including Japanese omelets, fish cakes (three different types), Wagu beef and fresh strawberries. Fruit is very expensive in Japan and is often given as a gift or eaten as a special dessert.

We saw these two cooks making and serving soup at the market.

This is a picture of my husband and I in front of the 8-course Japanese meal we prepared at a cooking class in Tokyo.

This is my Youtube video of a man cooking crab legs with a blowtorch at the Tsukiji Nippon Fish Port Market in Tokyo.

Various cooking occasions by Derrick Knight

Derrick Knight is a wonderful photographer and shares delightful book reviews and garden and home posts on his blog. You can find links to the related blog posts beneath each set of photographs.

The following photographs are by Derrick Knight’s daughter-in-law, Heidi. The feature Derrick cooking curry with his grandson, Oliver, in his French house in Dordogne in May 2009.

You can read more about this cooking lesson on Derrick’s lovely blog here: https://derrickjknight.com/2025/01/01/a-cooking-lesson/

The next set of photographs are of Ellie, aged 3, helping her great Grannie, Jackie (Derrick’s wife) cook a pork casserole in January 2006.

You can read more about Ellie cooking with great Grannie here: https://derrickjknight.com/2026/01/11/cooking-with-great-grannie/

This is a photograph taken in Gite in Normandy of Derrick’s late friends, Ann and Don, tending a barbecue in September 1982.

Darlene Foster

These delightful photographs were contributed by children’s author, Darlene Foster. You can find out more about Darlene and her exciting Amanda books on her blog here: https://darlenefoster.wordpress.com/.

A picture of Darlene Foster’s sister-in-law making pad thai for her in Thailand. «It was the best pad thai I have ever tasted. She is an excellent cook,» says Darlene.

It’s such a routine task, but it can reveal so much about our personalities. 🙂

Thank you, Richard. It most certainly can reveal a lot about people. Some people don’t cook at all.

Yum. Somehow all the delicious goes out of cooking when there is only yourself to eat it… This makes me want to do a barbeque!

Haha, me neither but when you see the size of the crabs and their legs you understand this cooking method.

Great pictures from all. How wonderful that you did a cooking class when you were in Japan. I did a paella class in Barcelona and a past class in Florence last September when we were on our cruise.
