Happy and grateful for this spotlight on my poetry/writing accomplishments.
This poetry video was done in celebration of Black Poetry Day and took several takes.
My unrelenting desire to make it «perfect» wore me out, making something meant to be rewarding and exciting, stressful, but I’m elated I found the «off switch» and went with the flow, reviewed, paused and hit that send button.
For if I hadn’t, if I had succumbed to perfectionism, I would have been caged, by fear and self doubt.
So, I’m thankful to the persons behind the project, for reaching out. I’m glad I took up the challenge and came out of my comfort zone, taking a chance on being seen and heard.
And thus in solidarity with the USA Celebration of Black History Month, this video, most timely, is being re-released into the world.
