Today, I am delighted to introduce you to the beautiful artwork of Carolina Russo.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your background in art. Where you influenced by any specific artists?

I was born and raised in Italy, where art, history, and beauty are part of everyday life. Growing up immersed in Mediterranean culture shaped my sensitivity to color, atmosphere, and detail. My father was an artist, and being surrounded by his oil paintings from a very young age was my first and most profound introduction to creativity. Watching him work, I intuitively knew that artistry would be my life’s path.
I studied Art and Jewelry Design in Italy, grounding my creative expression in both technique and tradition. In 2002, I moved to California, a transition that opened new creative and inner landscapes and allowed my work to evolve more freely and intuitively. Over time, my artistic journey expanded to include watercolor painting, illustration, digital art, fashion, and jewelry design, all connected by a desire to translate emotion, atmosphere, and inner worlds into visual form.

I’ve always been deeply drawn to Impressionism, particularly the way it captures light, movement, and emotional presence rather than rigid detail. Claude Monet has been a lifelong inspiration, especially his Water Lilies series, which feels almost meditative, an exploration of light, reflection, and stillness that transcends time. That sensibility continues to influence my work today, where I aim to create art that invites quiet contemplation and a gentle return to the inner self.

You create beautiful watercolor artworks. What attracts you to watercolor? Which are your favorite pieces of your own work?

Watercolor draws me in because of its fluidity, transparency, and sense of surrender. It requires presence and trust. You can guide it, but you can’t fully control it. That dialogue between intention and flow mirrors the way I experience creativity and life itself.

Many of my favorite pieces are landscapes and dreamlike scenes where light and water interact, because they carry an emotional atmosphere rather than a literal story. I’m also deeply connected to my figurative works, where human forms appear softened, almost ethereal, reflecting inner states rather than external identity. Each piece holds a moment of feeling a pause, a memory, a breath and that’s what makes them meaningful to me.

These paintings are Landscapes from a Reiki infused watercolor collection (part of a 12 – paintings series named  “Fields and Waters”  inspired by harmony, nature and subtle light)

You are a Certified Usui Reiki Master and infuse your art with Reiki energy. Can you explain what this means?

Infusing my art with Reiki means that each piece is created and completed within a consciously held energetic field of harmony, balance, and intention, when I begin a painting I set the intention and infuse the water, the pigments, the paper so that the energy can flow through the creation. Reiki is a Universal Life Force energy, and when I work with it, I’m not directing or forcing anything,  I’m allowing the energy to flow where it’s naturally needed.

As I paint or create, Reiki supports a state of calm presence, coherence, and openness. The artwork becomes more than a visual object; it carries a subtle energetic quality that many people describe as soothing, grounding, or quietly uplifting. My intention is always that the art feels like a gentle sanctuary, something that brings balance into a space and into the person who connects with it.

Tell us about your Reiki practice. What led you to becoming a Usui Reiki Master?

My Reiki journey unfolded naturally alongside my artistic path. I’ve always been sensitive to energy, emotion, and subtle states, and over time I felt called to deepen that awareness in a more grounded and intentional way. Reiki offered a structure that honored intuition while remaining gentle, ethical, and deeply respectful of the individual.
Becoming a certified Usui Reiki Master allowed me to integrate energy healing into my creative and personal life in a coherent way. Through my practice, Energy Essence Reiki, I offer distance Reiki and Light Language sessions that support balance, emotional clarity, and soul-level alignment. All sessions are guided with presence and care, allowing the energy to meet each person exactly where they are.

Do you have a particular process when starting a new piece? Does it change depending on the subject?

My process is intuitive, but it always begins with stillness. Before starting a piece, I pause, tune inward, and allow an image, feeling, or atmosphere to surface naturally. I don’t usually plan in detail. I let the work reveal itself layer by layer.

Landscapes often begin with a feeling of space, light, movement. Figurative work emerges more slowly, guided by emotion and subtle gesture. Animal subjects feel especially instinctual; they arrive with a presence of their own. While the techniques may differ, the underlying process remains the same: listening, allowing, and responding rather than controlling.

You are also an ambassador for Renew Vintage. Can you share a little about this?

Renew Vintage aligns beautifully with my values around sustainability, individuality, slow fashion, and conscious creation. Their bohemian, one-of-a-kind designs are created from recycled Indian cotton sarees using Kantha, an ancient textile tradition known for its distinctive hand stitching, passed down through generations of skilled women in rural villages.

Having studied fashion and jewelry design, I’ve always felt a deep appreciation for garments that are thoughtfully made and carry intention beyond aesthetics. I’m naturally drawn to pieces that feel lived-in rather than mass-produced, clothing that holds history, character, vibration, and soul. Each Renew Vintage piece is completely handmade in India and thoughtfully designed in Australia, where the brand has grown with integrity and care.

Being an ambassador allows me to support a brand that honors reuse, craftsmanship, and timeless style, while integrating these values naturally into my creative and artistic lifestyle.

I was born and raised in Italy, the beautiful country where I have been surrounded by Italian art, creativity, history, Mediterranean traditions and European influences. My father is an artist and I grew up observing and being amazed by his oil paintings. I knew since I was a child that I wanted to be an artist. I enjoyed drawing, coloring and creating things since a very early age.

In Italy, I studied Art & Design and Jewelry. I am passionate for watercolors, fashion design, illustration, digital art, and photography.  I write Poems , when they come to me like whispers in my mind. Just this month, two of my writings were published on two literary presses. I have been following my heart and path, believing that anything is possible if you truly believe in it and in yourself.
