Ok, so you all know him as «Easymalc«. And we all have enjoyed his writings and learned a lot from the very thorough information he provides in his blog about the places he has travelled to. I definitely would suggest a visit…
Malc Wright is a phenomenal travel writer who I have been reading for several years now. Actually, some of his articles are so well crafted with so much pertinent information that I have printed them out and saved them for use in future travel, especially in the UK.
Here is an excerpt from one of his many articles in Easymalc…
SPAIN
Spain hardly needs an introduction as it’s the second most visited country in the world (after France). With the majority of those 83 million annual tourists heading for the Costas, it’s not really surprising that a large percentage of its 47½ million inhabitants live around the coastline, but it’s not all sun, sea and sangria. In the centre of the country lies its capital Madrid, which has some great art galleries, football clubs, and perhaps best of all, nightlife.
Europe’s fourth largest country also includes the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands off the West Coast of Africa. Talking of Africa, across the Strait of Gibraltar lies Ceuta and Melilla, two Spanish Autonomous Cities that Morocco believes shouldn’t be Spanish at all. If that doesn’t make geographical sense, then neither does the fact that Gibraltar is British and not Spanish. On the Spanish mainland, this mainly Roman Catholic country, is divided up into 17 Autonomous Communities, each of which have an independent character of their own. Some of these Communities, mainly Catalonia and the Basque Region, have large numbers of people who would like to separate from Spain altogether, but so far they have been thwarted by the country’s national government.
Spain has a long and varied history including a period known as the Francoist Dictatorship during the 20th century. General Francisco Franco came to power after leading the Nationalists to victory over the Republicans in the 1936-39 Civil War. After his death in 1975 the country returned to democracy and today is a Constitutional Monarchy with King Felipe VI the current Head of State. It is also a member of the European Union and NATO Alliance.

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT MALC IN HIS OWN WORDS
I was born and bred in a working class area of Bristol in England and was lucky to be brought up in a loving, but relatively poor household.
As far as education was concerned, I wasn’t bright enough to go to university, as in those days you needed to pass ‘A’ Levels to even be considered. I did manage to pass the tests needed to become an apprentice printer though, and after 5 years of training, qualified as a journeyman. I spent my whole working life in the printing trade but not in the same place, although always in the West Country. We’ve lived in cities, towns, villages, countryside and on the coast during the process.
I’ve only ever been married once – and still am. We have one grown-up daughter called Nadine, but my wife Kay is shy when it comes to having her picture in my blogs, but trust me when I say that she’s still an attractive lady. You won’t see me featured too often either – but for reasons that you’ll understand when you look at the picture below (which was taken in Rotterdam in 2012)
I’d like to thank Francesc for giving me the opportunity to let people know a little more about me and just hope that I’ve still got a few followers left after this. 😊
