Hi everyone, it’s Robbie Cheadle here with you today with my December post in the Buildings & Architecture Photography section on LatinosUSA – English Edition.

Next week, will be the first photography post of 2026 and I am featuring photographs of Animals.

If you have a photograph to share in the Animals section, please email me at cheadlerobbie@gmail.com and use the title Photography – Animals. Please also include a short write up about your photograph.

Norsk Folkmuseum, Oslo

The open-air museum at the Norsk Folkmuseum in Oslo, includes 160 buildings from rural and urban Norway from the Middles Ages to the 20th Century.

These four photographs are from the Countryside section of the open-air museum which comprises farmsteads and buildings from different parts of rural Norway.

Casa Milà (La Pedrera), Barcelona

My thanks to poet and photographer, Nicole Sara, for this contribution of Casa Milà (La Pedrera), Barcelona. You can find Nicole on her beautiful blog here: https://starrysteps.wordpress.com/2025/11/14/soothing-blues-for-tankatuesday-poetry-challenge-38-visualize-your-joy-11-11-2025/

Nicole has an etsy shop where you can find her gorgeous photographic digital designs: https://www.etsy.com/shop/StarryStepsShop/

Casa Milà, popularly known as La Pedrera (the stone quarry) due to its rough-hewn appearance is a Modernista building in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It was the last private residence designed by architect Antoni Gaudí and was built between 1906 and 1912. The building was commissioned in 1906 by Pere Milà and his wife Roser Segimon, and it was controversial at the time because of its undulating stone façade, its wrought iron balconies with a twisted appearance and design by José María Jujol Gibert (Josep Maria Jujol in Catalan), known for his unique artistic flair. Several structural innovations include a self-supporting stone façade, and a free-plan floor, underground garage and the spectacular terrace on the roof. In 1984, Casa Milà was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. I was more than happy I could take several photos of it as it is not such an easy subject to frame and photograph. Also as I predominantly take nature photos, and mostly closeup, it took me a few more or less successful attempts until I could find the right spot and lighting (it was an overcast day) for the capture to feel as impressive as this elegant building looks when right in front of it.

Hi Roberta, thank you for sharing your fascinating December post on architecture and for the exciting preview of your upcoming Animals photography feature for 2026. The photographs from the Norsk Folkmuseum are beautiful, offering a wonderful glimpse into Norway’s rural history.

A special thank you as well to the talented Nicole Sara for her stunning contribution and write-up on Casa Milà. Her description of finding the right perspective and light on an overcast day perfectly captures the challenge and reward of architectural photography.

And finally, a warm and well-deserved acknowledgment to you, Robbie (and Roberta!). Your prolific and diverse creativity across children’s books, poetry, novels, art, and photography is truly impressive. Thank you for curating this space and inviting others to share their work.

    Best regards to all,

We visited Norsk Folkmuseum in Oslo one and a half year ago (summer of 2024) and I recognize the buildings. Nicole Sara’s photos of Casa Milà in Barcelona are also great. Interesting information as well. I’ve never been to Spain. Maybe I should visit.

Thank you very much for sharing my photos, Robbie! So interesting, the open-air museum. I love the second photo, because of the «roof garden» especially. 😃 And I just remembered… there is such a museum in Bucharest too, The Village Museum, which I visited back in 2014, also with rural houses from Romania… very nice! 🤩

Hi Nicole, these log buildings with the odd roofs remind me of On the Banks of Plum Creek by Laura Ingalls wilder. Don’t know the Little House on the prairie books or tC series?

The Casa Milà designed by Antoni Gaudí in Barcelona, Spain is extraordinary. Nicole’s photos are marvelous. My husband and I visited Spain years ago and were in Barcelona to celebrate our anniversary. I took a photo of Casa Milà but it was at night. I also took some photos of Basílica de la Sagrada Família which began its construction 0n March 19, 1882 and probably will complete in 2034.
