«A Rainy Day» by Rowena Liwanag Suarez

The rain,
holds so much hope
for kindred sentimental souls
but for a desolate soul like me
it rekindles an unhealed deep wound

The rain,
a constant remembrance
of copious tears shed
while holding on to castles in the air

The rain,
a mocking presence
as it howls the past
and conjures an image of a drenched forsaken silhouette

The rain,
a waterfall of tears
mirrors my lament
and the rivulets of tears my soul still delivers

Time heals all wounds, they say
but mine stays the same
for my wounded heart
still holds the slivers of glass you left inside

Waves of shooting pain
pricks my unending aching heart
bringing to mind a love lost
while the rain shatters the silence once more
