«A Gentle Reminder» by Precious Magdaleno

I am painting you,
like a rose smiling beneath the sun,
secretly hiding the pain it has endured,
yet, still bloomed beneath the shades of blue,

«I hope, I love, though tired I be,
a fragile heart inside of me,»
a little secret carried on a sigh.

Oh, dear soul,
whenever you see a quiet grace,
not knowing the tears, what lies deep within,
please, be gentle, like the morning rain,

«for kindness helps the spring begin,»

This is absolutely beautiful. The poem weaves such a delicate, poignant tapestry of resilience and hidden strength. I love the central metaphor of the rose—how it «smiles» publicly while privately holding its scars, yet chooses to bloom anyway. That image alone is a powerful testament to endurance.

The lines «I hope, I love, though tired I be, / a fragile heart inside of me» feel like a whispered anthem for anyone who has ever had to be brave while feeling broken. It’s honest and deeply moving.

And the turn toward the reader with the gentle plea—»please, be gentle, like the morning rain»—is where the poem truly shines its light. It’s a compassionate call to remember that everyone carries unseen battles, and that our kindness can be the very thing that allows another person’s spring to begin. The closing line, «for kindness helps the spring begin,» isn’t just pretty; it’s a profound and hopeful truth.

Thank you for sharing this. It’s a tender, wise, and beautifully crafted reminder that stays with the reader long after the last line.
