Hi everyone, it’s Robbie Cheadle here with you today with my December post in the People Photography section on LatinosUSA – English Edition.

Next week’s photography section will feature nature. If you have a photograph to contribute, please email it to me at cheadlerobbie@gmail.com and use the title Photography – Nature. Please also include a short write up about your photograph.

La Rambla, Barcelona

My thanks to poet and photographer, Nicole Sara, for this contribution of La Rambla, Barcelona. You can find Nicole on her beautiful blog here: https://starrysteps.wordpress.com/2025/11/14/soothing-blues-for-tankatuesday-poetry-challenge-38-visualize-your-joy-11-11-2025/

Nicole has an etsy shop where you can find her gorgeous photographic digital designs: https://www.etsy.com/shop/StarryStepsShop/

La Rambla is a beautiful pedestrian street in Barcelona lined up with tall trees. It stretches for 1.2 kilometres (3⁄4 mile) and connects the Plaça de Catalunya in the center of Barcelona with the Christopher Columbus Monument at Port Vell. La Rambla hosts a variety of shops, markets, cafés and cultural institutions, and it can be crowded during the tourist season. The Spanish poet Federico García Lorca once said that La Rambla was «the only street in the world which I wish would never end.»

Exactly. I don’t like to take pictures of individuals. It seems rude. If you have any street scene photos, Janet, please do submit a few.

Is that like burning sage to drive bad spirits from a room?

      3. Avatar de robertawrites235681907

Yes, this is what AI says about it: In Tibetan (Vajrayana) Buddhism, the practice of smoke cleaning is a significant ritual known as Sanghcoe (smoke offering) or Lhasang. This ceremony uses the fragrant smoke from burning specific aromatic plants, such as juniper, pine, rhododendron, cedar, and various medicinal herbs and resins, to purify both the environment and the mind of the practitioner.

I had not heard of this Japanese practice before. It appears to be somewhat similar to smudging in some indigenous groups in North America.
