he did a painting of that night,

in browns
and yellows
and orange and green.
he finished it,
but,
no one
ever saw it
because he threw it out,
along with
her picture and
a watch she gave him
on Valentine’s Day that was inscribed:
Mark and Pam: forever and beyond.
This poem marks my 3,694th published poem, and every one of them is meant to be (as Roberta states) «very realistic and understandable». For my money, people have tried to make poetry something that only those with a golden key can understand…that’s always always always bothered me. I want poetry to be something people can see themselves in…something they can relate to. Fior me, poetry is a snapshot of a moment in time, and what you do with it and what you make of it is up to you. Like I said, this is my 3,694th published poem, and (like the title of my latest book, I «AIN’T DONE YET».
