Photography – Nature

Published by

Hi everyone, it’s Robbie Cheadle here with you today with the first post in my new Photography section on LatinosUSA – English Edition.

The Photography Section will comprise a weekly photography post with a weekly theme as follows:

First week of the month – Animals

Second week of the month – People

Third week of the month – Nature

Fourth week of the month – Buildings and Architecture.

If there is a fifth week, we will have a jackpot photography post.

I would love all the photographers out there to contribute to this section. If you have a photograph to share in one of these categories, please email me at cheadlerobbie@gmail.com and use the title Photography – [specific theme]. Please also include a short write up about your photograph.

Bear Lake in the Rocky Mountain National Park

My thanks to poet and author, Lauren Scott, for her lovely contribution to this photography segment. This is a link to one of Lauren’s delightful blog posts: https://baydreamerwrites.com/2025/11/11/perspective-of-a-yamaha-guitar/. Do visit and view all her beautiful books and poems.

In September, my husband and I visited our son in Colorado. One destination on our agenda was Rocky Mountain National Park. We arrived early to watch the sunrise, and this photo was taken at Bear Lake in the park. Golden hues, persimmon orange, and hints of red were beginning to pop in this new season of fall. We took a slow walk around the lake and pulled our cells out for many photos. The reflections on the lake evoke those quiet moments when I reflect on my life – past, present, and thoughts about the future. I can’t seem to get enough nature photos. A stunning park, to say the least, and a special time with our son.

Autumn Leaves

My thanks to poet and photographer, Nicole Sara, for this contribution of gorgeous autumn leaves. You can find Nicole on her beautiful blog here: https://starrysteps.wordpress.com/2025/11/14/soothing-blues-for-tankatuesday-poetry-challenge-38-visualize-your-joy-11-11-2025/

Nicole has an etsy shop where you can find her gorgeous photographic digital designs: https://www.etsy.com/shop/StarryStepsShop/

Leaves make such lovely and interesting photography subjects, I take quite many photos of them, no matter the season. I have always been fascinated by their forms, colors and details, in painterly autumn foliage with their vibrant shades of orange, yellow or red, but also various shades of green all along the year. What I also love is the way the light shines onto or all through them on bright sunny days. And, of course, it is extraordinary how autumn air suddenly becomes a talented painter in late September all through October and November, in my part of the world, turning each leaf into a small canvas for its lovely art. An exquisite palette… so wonderful, the way yellow and green hues, tones and tinges superbly blend along the leaves’ veins, creating rusty spots or dots sometimes. Or the seemingly magical way the color on one half of a leaf can remain separate from the color on the other half… a crisp auburn versus a pale yellow, for instance, in gorgeous contrast – as if the autumnal artist has run out of a particular shade, simply… out of the blue.

Deadman Island

Thank you to nature and wildlife photographer, Wayne Barnes, for allowing me to showcase some of his gorgeous photographs here. You can find Wayne’s photographs on his blog, Tofino Photography, here: https://tofinophotography.wordpress.com/

Deadman island is in Tofino’s harbour. The Natives would take their dead there and put them up in the trees. (Which was not a bad idea if they died of something contagious!) They believed it was Evil spirits that killed their loved ones and so wanted the evil spirits to be elsewhere!

They would put them in small Bentwood boxes. Many times the limbs would have to be broken to fit into these beautifully hand crafted wooden boxes.

Flowers for Remembrance Month

My flowers picture below is for Terri’s The Flower Hour post honouring Veterans Day: https://secondwindleisure.com/2025/11/11/the-flower-hr-6-shadows-of-sorrow-in-honor-of-veterans-day/

Flowers at the grave of Private J Hunter from Queensland, Australia who was killed in action during the Battle of Polygon Wood at the age of 28. His story is one of profound brotherly love, as his younger brother, Jim, held him as he died and buried him in a makeshift grave on the battlefield. Jack’s remains were lost for decades until they were discovered in 2006 during a construction project, and he was finally identified through DNA and laid to rest in the Australian cemetery in Flanders, Belgium in 2007. This story inspired the Australian Brothers in Arms monument at Flanders.
