«When bodies turn to dust, the soul shall linger.» – Aboli Mane

MAN :  Do you think poetry is back in fashion?

AA : Yes, I actually believe it was never out of fashion. Poetry is one of the oldest methods of expression. Be it the Poetic Edda, Iliad or even Rigveda, myths of ancient civilization were written in poetic metre. I do not think that poetry will ever go out of fashion, it is beautiful medium of expression in society.

MAN : Do you write poetry daily, or do you write as ideas come to you?

AA : I write as ideas come to me. Sometimes it only takes a moment for inspiration to strike, other times it takes longer. I write when I feel like it, I feel like I am my best self when I am actively writing.

MAN : What is your next publishing project? Could you tell us how it came about?

AA : I am currently working on the sequel of Jyestha Devi. It is still in the first draft stage and currently it is far from publishing but I do hope to have it published within this year.

The first part of Jyestha Devi left a little more to be desired, and since I had been working on a time crunch to finish the novel within one month, I believe that it did not reach its full potential. The sequel will try to fill those gaps and add more lore.

MAN : The city you live in, and a description of your favorite bar or café.

AA : I live in Mumbai, formerly called Bombay, the financial capital of India. I wish I could describe one of my favorite bars or cafes but I sadly do not frequent any. I’m really sorry to disappoint in this regard. If I put out any description it will be purely fictional.

Sample Poem from the book

In an age where everyone loved their body,
I fed my soul with compassion and peace.
When bodies turn to dust
the soul shall linger.

There, mine shall be,
the flame on a moonless night,
that guides the lost
towards tomorrow.
