«Women of the Sun » Sheila Henry
Like chocolate, you are created
in various shades of brown
from caramel to deep dark dark.
Your beauty stuns,
you are perfectly made
and your posture is REGAL
You are Mother Earth.
From your hips came all of mankind.
Between your thighs life began.
Your bosom is a source of
nutrition to feed the world.
The young suckle your breast.
Your melanin rich skin glistens in the SUN.
Those who have had a taste, say
“The blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice.”
Some want what they can’t have—your MELANIN,
their outer covering pales to yours.
They get no protection from the sun.
Walk tall, remember who your are—the ORIGINAL
take your rightful place in the world.
Forgive history coz it stole your rights.
Free your men whose minds have been enslaved and
shackled for hundreds of years. It’s this time in history
to reunite and shake them up from their deep sleep.
You are more powerful than you know,
your faith is your strength—be TRIUMPHANT
Your love of God is within; so is your love of self.
You were created for a purpose. So
rise to your stature! Rise to your true nature!
Rise! You radiate the SUN.
You are the fountain of life.
