A Phoenix’s Song by Anjetta (Anjie) Williams-Brown

You think you’ve hurt me

You think I no longer exist

You think I can’t rise above your tricks

I’m a Phoenix, I always survive

I emerge from the flames

My wings are intact

My soul is in tune

I am never consumed or heavy with anger

Water was once my enemy

 But as with anything

I came, I conquered

You came to

Kill

Still

Destroy

I am a Phoenix

You can’t keep me down

Cause I will always rise
