Returning to the forest
After a long while
Rustling breeze of trees
Always make me smile
The first time I came
Among season of Spring
With deep green leaves
And blue birds that sing
Now darker upon Autumn
The air is mysterious
Leaves turning red
Fleeting animals less curious
Hibernation for the soul
Preparing for winter’s storm
Earth’s soil frozen below
To re-emerge once more
Time fades away slowly
Cycles of life and death
Stillness within solitude
Take a weary last breath
Branches cracking underfoot
Song of water’s flowing calm
Scents of crisp, cooler air
Touch of dirt upon my palm
Messages still the same
Listen closely to falling leaves
I’ll forever feel at home
In the forest among the trees

As the seasons change, so do we.
My first entry to No Theme Thursday was on March 24th, 2024 (a little over seven months ago) and it was a poem called Forest for the Trees.
This image reminded me of that first ever entry and I decided to reminisce on a return to the beginning.
My blog was never supposed to be about poetry, and I remember feeling so nervous posting that first poem, thinking it would be an utter fail.
So, this is my way of saying, “Thank you.”
For being here with me as I write more, for helping me grow, and for Kevin and his beautiful inspiration which has kept me writing for this long.
Gratitude to everyone who reads this. You are always appreciated.
