Interview with Laura Bennett

Here are my answers to Edward’s questions, with of course, some of my own AI pizazz thrown in! (I’ve been nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award by Edward Ortiz)

What is your morning routine?

This is a fun one, because it depends on if I’m working overnight or not. 3 nights out of 7, I work a 12 hour shift from 7pm-7am (or whenever my relief decides to show up) but I’m hoping sooner than later to get on a day shift job.

After pulling a 12 hour overnight

So, it’s either one of the two – I’m passing out soon after coming home from working, or if it’s my day off, I try to maintain somewhat of a normal schedule which includes drinking coffee first thing and getting up to do errands – lately I’ve been going to the gym, and just enjoying the peace that time off from work offers.

I’m not this ripped, but I totally wish I was!

What is your favorite season? Why?

Autumn. I just love the vibe, I was born in October, and it starts to get cooler out. The air changes, and not just the temperature, but the atmosphere as well. Also, favorite holidays and celebrations take place during Autumn.

What is your favorite childhood memory?

Spending time with my grandmother. One of my very first memories with her was when she showed me how to bake a cake.

Who or what has been your most unlikely teacher?

I would say experience, but I guess that’s a bit cliché and not at all unlikely. I suppose I could say my patients – especially the ones in recovery and with mental health struggles. It takes a lot of patience to care for patients (heh) who relapse over and over again.

Hmmm…not the most likely teaching scenario, still valuable

You have to have compassion for their diagnoses, but you also need to set firm boundaries. Not to mention, it makes you a fantastic lie detector.

Who or what are you most proud of?

I often feel a sense of pride for others when they make leaps and bounds in overcoming something, whether that be a challenging time or just something they were struggling with internally. For myself, I suppose it was when I became a nurse.

What is something that surprises people about you?

I have major RBF but I’m actually a really nice and caring person if you take the time to get to know me. But I don’t let people in super easily, either.

Well, for some people…the RBF is appropriate

What motivated you to start blogging?

I was told by a medium I practice with to “start writing” because she felt that my writing would really help others. It’s been a wonderful journey so far, so I’m thankful I took the plunge!

What forms of entertainment do you enjoy the most?

Love concerts, although I’m getting way too old and impatient for mosh pits, waiting, rude people, etc. I still love live music though. I enjoy video games, but it’s been a while since I’ve sat down and played any. I do like watching movies or TV but it has to be something good, like Vikings, Dexter, etc.

Back when I was a teenager, you couldn’t keep me away from going to a live show

If you are a book reader, do you prefer a paper copy or a digital copy?

Both. Digital obviously for ease and convenience, but I love the way a book feels in my hands and it feels like more of a “reading” experience that way.

I haven’t read this book in a while – still one of my favs!

What’s your favorite music genre, and who is your favorite singer?

Rock. Metal. It’s hard for me to choose a favorite singer because it changes and there are so many great ones out there but if I have to choose I’m gonna go with Ozzy. I love him!

I tried to embed a video from YouTube of my fav Ozzy song – See You on the Other Side – but because I don’t pay for WP, I’m not allowed to

What societal causes do you care about the most?

Ending domestic violence, ending poverty and hunger, as well as causes for animal welfare. Raising awareness for those initiatives and helping out in anyway I can is very important to me. Also, “Leave No Trace,” please – to preserve our wonderful nature!

Please don’t leave your trash outside!

Here are my questions for my nominees:

What’s your favorite brand of coffee? If you don’t drink coffee, what do you like to drink? (Tea, etc)

What’s the most creative lie you’ve ever told?

What’s the last dream you had (that you feel comfortable sharing)? If you’re in the “don’t dream” camp, what would you like to dream about?

What was the most favorite job you’ve held in your lifetime?

What motivated you to start blogging?

What are you grateful for?

What’s something nice you did for yourself recently?

If you could partake in any new endeavor, experience, or hobby, regardless of time constraints or money, what would it be?

What do you like to do to keep your brain active?

What do you like to do to keep your body active?

What is your favorite thing about spending time out in nature?

Time to spill the beans! 🫘

And now *rubs palms together* muahahah…this is who I nominate:
