«Places My Mind Enter» by Miriam Costa

Now that I’ve gotten older, my poems keep me company during the day too, while strange men look at me strangely, waiting for sex without shortage.. they usually start showing up at four, depending on the day, the house does not open until six… I paint my toenails then I am free for some ballroom dancing that I did not look for.
Still thinking about the book I read yesterday….. sometimes I get tired of this but like my poetry needs me , I need them too….

When looking at a body, they say they are looking for a nymph, an exotic story with hiding places and lots of sex. They stare at my legs. My throat feels like a prey but habit and the starting signal in my pocket make anxiety feels like nothing and puts me in control…….my voluminous eyelashes and breasts refuse to be contained while the writer approaches me. Greedy and restless according to his nature, just a young fool that caress a bit about me. He is the only client that all the Marias here get by without…. I, the bare earth, the shelter for rest, different from yesterday, I desire it in silence too…. my destiny only wants me, because in this brothel I was born alone..

Now that I’m older, my poems keep me company in bed too….. this writer gives me money and writes me almost every week, he is full of postcard kisses…..

He is a place that my mind enter but soon on top of my flesh he will be only a *ghost-poem.*
