Gabriela Marie Milton: «So here I am, armed with enthusiasm, ready to help everyone around me sparkle like diamonds in the sun».

I always ask our interviewee to tell us about an establishment (cafeteria or bar) that she likes in the city where she lives.

Gabriela Marie Milton

Ah, my favorite bar in the city? Well, here’s the twist: I don’t like any bars! I’m more of a “no-go-to-bars” kind of person. Give me a terrace in Europe any day—especially in Greece! Picture this: sitting by the sparkling water, drinking delightful Greek coffee while pretending to be a local. Who needs dimly lit bars with loud music when you can bask in the sun and watch the waves?

Gabriela and I founded one of the first Masticadores. Her work, determination and good work allowed MasticadoresUSA to pave the way for publishing many writers from that country. Later we founded seven other Masticadores in that language. That is why this interview is to show her current work and profession.

J. Re Crivello: Thank you for speaking to us, Gabriela. We will begin by talking about your professional career. (Here you should explain your current profession and how it came about. Maximum 10 lines.)

Gabriela Marie Milton:

Thank you for interviewing me Juan and thank you for giving me the chance to work with you.  I’m a university professor by day, trying to make sense of the world’s mysteries. When the sun sets, I transform into a writer of poetry and fiction.  I moonlight as Shakespeare’s long-lost cousin (though he never did return my calls). I’m also a publisher. Not just an editor who sips coffee and critiques your comma placement—I’m the whole package. I am the owner of Literary Revelations Publishing House. Vita Brevis Press published my two poetry books that have become bestsellers; four years ago they were like the popular kids in school that everyone wants to hang out with.

I owe my passion for science to my father and my love for poetry to my mother (who always said life is just one big sonnet waiting to be written). I owe my parents and my artist friends the world.

J. Re crivello: You have been working with writers for years (in addition to being a writer yourself). Could you explain your work and your commitment in this regard?

Gabriela Marie Milton:

Well, let’s just say it’s not exactly a commitment. Picture this: Arthur Rimbault once said, “I is another…. I make a stroke with the bow: the symphony begins in the depths, or springs with a bound onto the stage.”

Some days I feel like I’m juggling multiple personalities in the grand circus of creativity. One moment I’m deep in thought, and the next I’m watching my ideas falling on paper, so to speak.

My symphony begins from the depths of my imagination or springs forth onto the paper like an over-caffeinated kangaroo.

I love poets. I love artists.  It’s about love not commitment.

J. Re crivello: What is your daily routine like?

Gabriela Marie Milton:

Work, Work. Work. Spending time with my family and meditating.

J. Re crivello: How has your profession evolved? What are the main problems you face today?

Gabriela Marie Milton:

There are lots of problems in the US academia today. I prefer not to talk about it. As an author and a publisher, I think the most stringent problem is marketing. How to get my writing, the writings of those who I publish, and the art of those who I love, in the spotlight?

So here I am, armed with enthusiasm, ready to help everyone around me sparkle like diamonds in the sun. When we all shine together, the entire universe shines. It’s way better than being the only glittering star in a small room.

J. Re crivello: Masticadores is a website that tries to reach different readers in various countries and different languages. Of the books you have read, which one do you recommend?

Gabriela Marie Milton:

My favorite poet is Arthur Rimbaud; his experimental style, his innovative work if one can take its jarring juxtapositions. No sweets spread on the table.  A deliberate approach that breaks away from traditional conventions of form, structure, and language usage, to explore new ways of expressing ideas and emotions, pushing the boundaries of what is considered «poetry.” The Guardian published an article entitled “Rimbaud was no genius.” Haha! An English publication vs. a very young French poet.at the time when he wrote. Rivalries. Everyone knows that. But again, do not read him if you think poetry should always taste like fruit cake.

J. Re crivello: What are your future projects? Do you plan to continue developing your work as an editor? You use a social network to publish your content. Can you tell us about this experience?

Gabriela Marie Milton:

I plan to develop my skills as an editor and publisher. I plan to make poets and artists shine to the best of my capabilities. I plan to give as much beauty as I can to the world.

Literary Revelations will publish at the end of March a new poetry book entitled “Tranquilly: An Anthology of Haiku” with a cover and artistic photographs by two award-winning Japanese artists, whose work I love immensely.

As for me, I plan to release at the end of 2025 a mystery novel, my first novel in English.

J. Re Crivello: This interview was conducted via email. I have known Gabriela for years. That is why I decided that the readers of Masticadores should know about her work as both a writer and an editor. Thank you, Gabriela, for answering our questions. We will keep in touch.

    Dear Juan,

Thank you for this great interview. Gabriela was the first person I wrote for on MasticadoresUSA. I learned a great deal about many things in the literary industry from her. You still have amazing editors that I have enjoyed writing for and for that I am grateful. Congratulations for this interview Gabriela and on your next collection.

Hello Joni, always so exquisite in recognizing our work. Yes, Masticadores will always be great because of its authors, its editors and… its former editors. I must confess that I had doubts about the questions, but I see that I got it right. with love Juan
