“The Boy Running With His Dreams” by John Chinaka Onyeche

Published by

on

Yesterday, a boy ran after a shadow. The shadow of the dreams he chased down the road as he stood on the cross-section of thousands of thoughts, remembering home, the home he vowed never to return to, except the sun rises to light the murky shadow that hovers around the home. It is now a decade, perhaps, ten thousand decades that this dream left him with shimmering gleefulness, as he wove time to moisture the dream into what the eyes would behold. Yesterday, I watched the boy run after the shadow of his dreams, whispering to the wind. Here I am, bring me my dreams.
