Going Barefoot by JK Miller

Published by

On your toes!

Fighting stance!

Period.

We have always desired too much

a morning

without shipwrecks.

The day may pound away at us.

Our blood may boil.

Don´t you realize?

That same combative sun

desires to caress you?

Let´s make a bridge—

not out of gold, or copper or steel—

but of wood.

Get to work—-hammer and nails.

We carry on our shoulders

the fear of trembling love.

How heavy it weighs!

Shall we cross?
