«I Tell You, I Have Been Told Too» by Danna Garbida
Here’s to you who are told to believe in yourself but still figure out how.
I tell you, I have been told too. —before I do something that is outside my comfort zone, during the process, and after I’ve done it. I know how it happens, it’s like taking your soul with the little pieces of a puzzle of memories. It will either leave a beautiful puzzle or it won’t. You still have to believe. As they told.
I tell you, it will be worth taking the risk. Taking a step outside yourself is like taking you to endless possibilities. You’ll experience more and more of you. As they told.
I tell you, you’ll meet people that will leave a mark on your heart. They will tell cool things about you that they can only see. You’ll believe in the looking-glass theory. You’ll realize how much strength you have that you never knew you had. As they told.
I tell you, thoughts will flicker and flowers will whither. So whether you like it or not, believing in your potential now will cause your future self to live with more appreciation. You’ll never just live to survive. As they told.
I tell you, you are doing great. You even did well today. You are more than you think you’ll become if no one tells you. And tell you, I believe in you. God believed in you. I see your purpose. I see you. As I told you.
I turned around and left the mirror. Despite the brokenness, I wear a bright smile knowing I and God got me.
