Janey’s brother’s by John Yamrus

father’s

cousin’s mother

was eighteen when

she went on the road with

young Jack,

who looked so good,

leaning up against that wall

with a

pack of smokes

and a pen sticking out of his shirt pocket.

it

didn’t

take long

for it to all go bad

and

she was left

all alone with a kid

and a

stack of bills

that never got paid.

but,

Christ almighty

Sweet Jesus in a crowd,

it was worth every single minute of the ride.
