Photography – Animals

Hi everyone, it’s Robbie Cheadle here with you today with the March post in my Photography section on LatinosUSA – English Edition. This month I am featuring turtles, tortoises, and terrapins for this category.

I would love all the photographers out there to contribute. If you have a photograph of people at a wedding to share in the People category, please email me at cheadlerobbie@gmail.com and use the title Photography – People. Please also include a short write up about your photograph.

Terrapins by Robbie Cheadle

During a trip to St Lucia in South Africa in early January this year, we were lucky enough to see terrapins at Hluhluwe Game Reserve.

Terrapins are small, semi aquatic reptiles that live in freshwater or brackish, slightly salty water like marshes, swamps, and ponds.

Swimming with turtles in Port St Charles

Derrick Knight has a fantastic blog that includes interesting book reviews, photographs, and family anecdotes. The below information and extract is from the following blog post by Derrick: https://derrickjknight.com/2015/11/14/swimming-with-turtles/. Do go over and read the rest of this post. Take a look around while you are there.

Click on the slideshow to view a selection of photographs from a swimming trip in the waters of Port St Charles harbour in March 2004:

Louisa just had to join the turtles, like pebbles washed by tidal waters, the colours of their carapaces brightly contrasting with their natural element which reflected the skies above.

Terrapins- that was a new word for me. We don’t have turtles- but it looks like swimming with them would be very exciting!

I remember my uncle keeping pet terrapins in a tank in his house. They grew quite large and he eventually gave them to a zoo. Nice photos.

Shared on Twitter for you, Robbie. Best wishes, Pete.
