Window in the Place de la Bourse – Beursplein, Brussels

The Place de la Bourse or Beursplein, meaning «Stock Exchange Square», is a major square in central Brussels, Belgium. It was created following the covering of the river Senne. It is now the second most important square in Brussels after Grand-Place/Grote Markt.

This is one of the beautifully decorated windows.

Helbling House and Mozart’s Birthplace in Austria by Miriam Hurdle

We went to Austria in 2013. The first city we visited was Innsbruck. Innsbruck has hosted the Winter Olympic Games twice, 1964 and 1976. I took a photo of the Helbling House (Helblinghaus) while in Innsbruck. The name «Helbling» comes from a former owner, Sebastian Hölbling, who owned the building around 1800. It was originally built in the 15th century but significantly remodeled in the Baroque style with ornate Rococo stucco façade decorations in the 18th century. The bows, window frames, masks, sculptures, and shells contributed to creating this unique building.

The next city we visited was Salzburg. I took a photo of Mozart’s Birthplace. The music composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in 1756. The middle window on the fourth floor was opened with the decoration of a musical instrument above the window to mark the room where Mozart lived. The striking yellow building now functions as a popular museum dedicated to Mozart’s early life and musical instruments. The Austrian national flag prominently hangs on the façade, symbolizing its cultural heritage.
