Street and Other Public Art

Hi everyone, its Robbie Cheadle with you today with the January post in the Street and Other Public Art section here on LatinosUSA – English Edition.

My guest today is the talented Resa McConaghy and she has prepared a wonderful post featuring a most striking mural.

Translation: HEART IN JUST/or RIGHTEOUS FURY

When I saw this, I thought what a perfectly wonderful mural to send Robbie for her Art Blog.

Large female face with three horn-like protrusions. The long hair is black and wavy and the face is reddish pink. A hand extends upwards holding a reddish pink rose.

There are 2 huge and exciting faces, with lots of flowers. The top of my head reached the chin on the above face. The slideshow below builds to the full face.

It was 0c outside. It took an hour to shoot this, as it is on a medium busy street. I had to shoot between vehicles passing by and the business on the ground floor of the building, (plumbing supplies) was all get out busy.

In 1 hour, there was never a moment when there was no cars parked. Worse, the cars were all so filthy, I didn’t get any great reflection shots.

Picture caption: another shot of the mural with a different vehicle parked in front of it.

All in all a wonderful work of wall art, that I fell in love with.

Above is the slideshow of the second face, and below a slideshow of the flowers.

My name is Resa McConaghy. I’m a semi-retired Costume Designer for film and television.

My first Art Gown “Strawberry Kisses” was to create some beauty in my life after mom died. It was a hit with people, so I continued to make and post more “Art Gowns”.

At some early point, I began upcycling, repurposing and in general making the gowns out of any fabric or notions that were not new goods. I was using up anything headed for landfill.

The Art Gowns are available to borrow or rent (situation dependant) for Gala’s, photo shoots and film production.
