“Sweet Serendipity” by Pegah Rahmati Nezhad

sitting alone in my room
i saw
a tiny insect on the wall

i jumped to check what it is
just to find
a neon green creature
with lace wings
of the same color

i didn’t even know its name
or whether
it’s a friend
or an enemy

after googling…
i realized
it’s harmless
an uninvited friend
who has taken refuge
in the warmth of my home
i should have known
i should’ve known such bright beauty
could never be malicious
even nameless

so i continued
living my life
with a smile on face
knowing
a messenger of
renewal
hope
and luck
is watching over me
a green lacewing

it may sound weird
but at that time
i felt so safe
so secure
so calm

the next morning though
i could’t find
my sweet serendipity
anywhere

there was no notice
no goodbye

a sudden coming
a sudden leaving

i became sad
i missed the company
i swear i did
i swear
i
did
.
.
.
PS – i loved you
