Contrasting Colours, A Metaphorical Poem By Robbie Cheadle

Published in November 2024. Are we celebrating the first anniversary of LatinosUSA!

My husband is…. I am…

a calm expanse of water, glass smooth and a whirlpool of relentless, swirling motion;
clear;

a gentle zephyr, mildly puffing through life; a tornado, tearing across fields and dales;

a leader with a firm attitude and a soldier, determinedly marching through

commanding tone; life;

a tawny owl, silent, watchful and wise; a red breasted robin, bright eyed, perky

and daring;

a spacious cavern, silent, restful and still; a babbling stream, vibrant, noisy and

turbulent;

a grandfather clock, steadily marking the a cuckoo clock that loudly announces the

seconds, minutes and hours; hour;

a dictionary, providing an exact and a mysterious poem with different shades of

definitive meaning; meaning;

a mighty redwood, solid, sturdy and a day lily flowering in a myriad of deep and

dependable; bright colours,

a mural painted in calming blues and a collage of bright colours, yellows, oranges

greens. and pinks.

Note from the editor: This is the original formatting of the poem, I’ve attached it in case WordPress messes up with the format.
