One time
before I knew
where I was going
I played in the stilled
car on blocks.
I cranked the metal handle
to start the engine.
One time
I saw the black rubber
on the runner board glide away
like a silver-edged eel,
a dog followed
and barked,
one day
I will bark and follow back
to see where I go
one day.
